South Dakota State University and head coach Rod DeHaven announced Tyg Long as the latest addition to the Jackrabbit track and field team as the throws coach. Before signing with the Jacks, Long worked as the throws coach at Black Hills State University where he developed one of the premier throw programs in the nation at the NAIA level. Gone via graduation is six-time letterwinner Josie Oakland, who plans to run at South Dakota State University this fall, and seventh grader Tess Williams is the only girl runner this fall. "It will be different on the girls' side this year, but Tess ran this summer and has looked up to Josie and been around older girls that have run. I think it will be a fun year."
