    BRATTLEBORO - Rod Gander, a former chief of correspondents at Newsweek who went on to the presidency of Marlboro College and to serve in the Vermont Senate, died of heart failure Monday, his family said. He was 76. (Boston Globe)

    The Windham County Democrat was elected to the Senate in 2002 and 2004 after a distinguished career that included serving as chief of correspondents at Newsweek magazine and serving as president of Marlboro College.
